New addition to the privia line leaves an impact, but small footprint
CasioÕs line of Privia Digital Pianos has been a customer favorite for a long time. In recent years, Casio has struck a beautiful balance by providing an incredible amount of value in an affordable price range. They continue to build on the success, sounds, and speakers of the units that came before. Casio now brings all of these great things and more to their newest instrument, the Casio Privia PX-S1000. YouÕll quickly see that there is more than meets the eye with this model.
One of the first things we noticed was that Casio has done away with almost all of the buttons, dials, and sliders, leaving a single volume knob. This leaves the face of the instrument with a sleek, contemporary, gloss finish. Once you turn the unit on, the brilliant touch sensor controls are revealed. Turn the unit off, and they fade away. These touch sensor controls hold a few key pieces of information including Tone, Metronome, and Record to name a few, so you can easily navigate the instrument. Casio also has an app called Chordana that partners with the PX-S1000. The software is compatible with both iOS and Android devices and allows the user to change sounds, customize various piano effect dynamics, and access a variety of new features that make enjoyment and learning a breeze. You can access all of the features without the app as well.
The PX-S1000 is perfect for smaller spaces or adding flair to your home with its innovative design. Weighing only 24 lbs, this portable unit boasts the ability to run on either six AA batteries or the included AC adapter. Its stylish and compact design does not compromise the size or playability of the keys either, and the ebony and ivory simulated surface feels great under the fingers - providing an authentic playing experience.
Along with expertly sampled sounds from the Steinway Grand Piano, this piano has integrated a new Sound Mode audio feature. At the push of one of the on-screen selections, the user is immediately presented with a wide, rich stereo soundscape that encompasses the player by providing a lush and enriching listening experience. Even without this feature, the piano sounds great. The PX-S1000 has subtle speakers that face towards the player and two larger speakers that face outwards. Whether youÕre in a large room, against a wall, or at your kitchen table, these speakers are designed to give you the full sound that Casio is quickly becoming known for in their Privia digital pianos.
In addition to all of this, the PX-S1000 is also compatible with Bluetooth technology. You can easily connect to your devices wirelessly, playing your music through those powerful speakers or playing along with your favorite band. Some optional accessories include a matching wooden stand, triple pedal unit, and carrying case, so youÕre set no matter how you want to use it.
The newest member to the Privia family has left an impression on our staff in both design and sound quality. It proves to be a solid option for traveling musicians, students looking for a compact choice, or experienced players looking for an affordable pro-level piece.
