Frequently Asked Questions: Alesis Nitro Ultimate
Can I use a regular hi-hat stand?
Yes. The built-in hi-hat controller is designed to attach to standard hi-hat stands (stand sold separately), so you can use the one you already have. If you don't have a hi-hat stand, Kraft Music has some bundles that include a hi-stand stand and other accessories for a discounted price.
Will the kit connect to my DAW or recording software?
Yes. The module streams all trigger data straight into any DAW or virtual instrument over USB, making it perfect for home recording, beat making, or full-band tracking.
Which software comes with the Nitro Ultimate?
You get a complimentary 90-day Drumeo interactive lesson subscription plus BFD Player with the Dark Mahogany Expansion Pack, giving you high-quality drum sounds and structured practice material right out of the box.
Can I add extra pads or cymbals?
Yes. In addition to the nine built-in trigger inputs, the module offers two extra 1/4" TRS inputs, so you can expand the kit with extra pads or cymbals.
How does Bluetooth work on this kit?
Bluetooth 5.3 lets you stream music, backing tracks, or lessons wirelessly from a phone or tablet directly to the kit’s module (up to about 30 meters). It’s great for jam sessions or practicing without tangled cables. There is no MIDI over Bluetooth, but MIDI can be sent over USB.
Is the Nitro Ultimate a good choice for a beginner?
Definitely. The responsive mesh heads feel natural, the module includes beginner-friendly kits and tutorials, and the overall setup is straightforward enough for someone just starting out.
How sturdy is the rack system?
The four-post steel rack is reinforced with adjustable curved bars and lockable clamps, providing a rock-solid foundation for aggressive playing and allowing you to tweak the geometry to suit your ergonomics.
What musical genres can I cover with this kit?
With over 640 built-in sounds including drums, cymbals, percussion, and electronic effects, the kit handles everything from rock, pop, and jazz to hip-hop, EDM, and experimental styles.
Is the kit good for practicing silently?
It is. There’s a dedicated 1/4" stereo headphone jack, so you can plug in headphones and practice quietly without disturbing anyone nearby. Electronic drums do make some noise even while using headphones, but the Nitro Ultimate's mesh heads are a great choice for those looking for a quiet electronic kit.
Does the kit support double bass pedals?
Yes. The included mesh kick pad is large enough and responsive enough to work with most standard double bass pedals.
Can I save my own custom drum kits?
Absolutely. The Nitro Ultimate module lets you save up to 16 user-created drum kits, so you can build and recall personalized setups for different styles or recording sessions.
