Back and sides of layered Big Leaf maple are paired with a solid Lutz spruce top in this limited-edition acoustic-electric, yielding a powerful voice that remains clear and balanced across the frequency spectrum. With signature Taylor playability thanks to the slender neck profile and accommodating body shape, this versatile Grand Auditorium offers an enticing mix of comfort, rich tone and striking looks. A gloss-finish body highlights black back and sides and a TransGrey top, with a black, satin-finish neck. Appointments include white binding with black/white/black top purfling; a single-ring rosette in Italian acrylic and matching Small Diamond fretboard inlays; a black pickguard; and satin black tuners. It includes ES2 electronics and ships with a brown deluxe hardshell case.
Grand Auditorium shape
While the bigger Dreadnought was traditionally considered a flatpicker's guitar and the smaller Grand Concert catered to fingerstylists, Grand Auditorium was designed to deliver on both fronts. This shape provides an original acoustic voice big enough to handle medium-strength picking and strumming, yet with impressive balance across the tonal spectrum, especially in the midrange, producing clear, well-defined notes that suit both strumming and fingerstyle playing. Grand Auditorium's overall presence tracks well with other instruments both in a studio mix and on stage, and singer-songwriters have embraced its utility both for composing and traveling with one guitar. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the multi-dimensional Grand Auditorium won't let you down.
Venetian cutaway
Taylor's elegant cutaways add to a guitar's shapeliness and broaden your playing range. The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The Grand Auditorium Venetian cutaway on this model features a somewhat flatter slope.
Lutz spruce top wood
A naturally occurring hybrid of Sitka and white spruce, Lutz grows in climate zones between where Sitka and white spruce are found. In terms of acoustic response, Lutz blends the positive characteristics of Sitka and white spruce and their close cousin, Engelmann spruce. The result is powerful sonic horsepower that translates into strong volume, projection and tonal richness. Players with a lively attack will enjoy the tonal output and headroom.
Layered maple body wood
Taylor's layered backs and sides incorporate three layers of wood, featuring a middle core of poplar with a veneer on each side. While layered woods won't produce quite as complex a sound as solid woods, they allow Taylor to blend exotic looks with climate-resilient construction.
Expression System 2 electronics
The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor's patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor's custom-designed preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier or direct into recording software, Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.
