Featuring Kawai’s Responsive Hammer Compact II (RHCII) keyboard action, the new KDP120 delivers a touch that feels and responds like an authentic acoustic grand piano action. In addition to its grade-weighted hammers, springless key mechanism, and sturdy construction, the RHCII keyboard action features Kawai’s latest triple-sensor key detection system for improved responsiveness. Among its selection of sounds is the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano. Through Kawai’s proprietary Harmonic Imaging technology, all 88 keys of the SK-EX were recorded, analyzed, and reproduced to deliver a rich and expressive playing experience. The KDP120 also features a new, improved Low Volume Balance feature for ideal expression when playing at low volume levels.
The KDP120 also comes equipped with Bluetooth MIDI technology allowing the instrument to connect with smart devices wirelessly for expanded functionality with many music applications, including Kawai’s Piano Remote and PiaBookPlayer apps. The instrument also features built-in music lessons, a song recorder, and a new modernized key cover appearance.

The KDP120’s Responsive Hammer Compact II (RHCII) keyboard action, now with improved cushioning to further reduce key noise, has been developed to represent the distinctive touch of an acoustic grand piano. Based on the highly-regarded RH keyboard action design, its spring-less technology and sturdy construction delivers consistent upward and downward motion for a smooth, natural, and highly authentic piano playing experience.
Bluetooth connectivity
The KDP120 boasts integrated Bluetooth MIDI technology, allowing the digital piano to communicate with supported smart devices wirelessly. Once paired with a phone, tablet, or laptop, KDP120 owners can easily expand the instrument’s functionality with a wide range of education, performance, and scoring apps.
Grand Feel Pedal System
The KDP120 features three pedals – soft, sostenuto, and damper (with half-damper capability). The Grand Feel Pedal System accurately replicates the position and individual weighting of the damper, soft, and sostenuto pedals of a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano to further enhance the KDP120’s acoustic piano-like authenticity.
Piano remote app
The KDP120’s redesigned communication standard allows players to control the instrument’s features and operations via the dedicated PianoRemote app for iOS and supported Android devices. The app connects to the piano wirelessly via the KDP120’s integrated Bluetooth, providing an effortless way to change sounds, or enjoy the vast array of built-in music content from the comfort of an armchair.
Superior headphone experience
The KDP120’s Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology enhances the depth and realism of the instrument’s sound when listening through headphones or earphones. In addition, the KDP120 also allows players to select a variety of headphone types (Open, Semi-open, Closed, In-Ear, Canal, etc.) for an optimised listening experience.
