EM PRO can be expanded to a full 5.0 Octave mallet instrument by utilizing individual EMX 1.0 Octave Expansion units. Simply remove the built-in End Cap from the control unit, slide the aluminum beams into place, and re-attach the end cap.

Muse Kinetics Smart Fabric Technology
EM PRO features Smart Fabric Technology, a Muse Kinetics exclusive. Smart Fabric Technology is truly next level, allowing EM PRO to be highly expressive, light, and dynamic. This non-woven polyester fabric is coated with billions of carbon nanoparticles, giving it conductive properties that change as pressure is applied. Sandwiched between a tough, smooth silicone outer cover and placed on a bed of electronic traces, proprietary algorithms receive precise pressure and location data, giving Smart Fabric Technology night and day performance increases over other dated instrument sensor types.
Optional Sound Card
The optional EM PRO sound card replaces the stock MIDI card by simply sliding into its place. It features a Quad-Core ARM 64-bit 2.0GHz processor for speed and power and enough onboard storage for a complete library of instrument choices. The optional sound card ships with an all-new lush, beautifully recorded Adams Alpha 5 octave Marimba and Alpha Vibraphone sampled by our new sound partner, Soundiron. Soundiron has been creating ultra-premium sample libraries for over a decade, and our new online sample store will allow you to download libraries from every genre imaginable. The malletSTATION EM PRO provides a very realistic feel for mallet players and percussionists. The digital bars use Muse Kinetics Smart Fabric technology, allowing nuanced playing techniques such as bar dampening and muting.
How many sounds does the Pearl malletSTATION EM PRO have?
The malletSTATION EM PRO does not include internal sounds from the factory. It is designed to function as an advanced MIDI mallet controller using USB or 5-pin MIDI for connectivity. Connect via USB to a computer or mobile device to use the instrument with VST sound libraries and virtual instruments, or connect to external sound modules and synthesizers using the 5-pin MIDI output. Internal sounds can be added with the optional EMSC sound card.
How do you add the EMSC sound card?
To install the optional EMSC sound card, remove the end cap of the EM PRO and take out the three screws on the back of the stock MIDI module. Gently pull the card out and disconnect the ribbon cable. Install the EMSC card in the open slot, reconnect the ribbon cable, and reinstall the mounting screws and end cap. An optional wireless antenna can also be installed inside the EM PRO chassis to allow easier firmware updates.
How do I get the EM PRO to recognize the EMSC sound card?
After installing the sound card, update the EM PRO to the latest firmware version. A QR code included in the box links to the owner's manuals and installation instructions. A Mac or PC is required to run the Pearl Mallet Updater software for the initial setup.
How many sounds are included in the EMSC sound card?
The optional EMSC sound card includes a library of 126 instruments created from more than 24,000 samples and 24GB of audio data. The collection includes traditional mallet instruments such as an Adams Alpha Marimba and Adams Alpha Series Concert Vibraphone, along with a Jazz Vibraphone. Additional sounds include classic electric pianos, bells, chimes, pitched metal and wood percussion, drum sets, choirs, brass, synth textures, and even a pitched PVC pipe instrument made famous by a well-known trio of blue-hued performers.
How do you add additional octaves to the EM PRO?
The EM PRO is a two-octave instrument out of the box. Using the EMX octave expanders, up to three additional octaves can be added. Place a towel or blanket on a flat surface to protect the instrument, then position it upside down to access the screws underneath. Remove the four machine screws securing the end cap, slide the end cap out, insert the EMX expander, connect the ribbon cable, and secure everything with the screws. Finally, run the “Force Internal FW Update” from the EM PRO Global Config Menu (System tab, page 2) to update the expander.

Covering malfunctions from normal use, excluding damage caused by abuse, faulty connections, or improper operation. The warranty is void if the serial number is unreadable, the device is tampered with, repaired by unauthorized persons, or purchased from an unauthorized dealer.
